in that situation i usually go for a stop start. some call it a stop-go

you pull it back with the inside of one foot, and immediately puch it forward with the inside of the other. works amazingly well, and its amazingly simple.

if the defender tackles, you just give it a little flick up

Indeed. I find the stop-start is most effective, especially if you are good at sucking the defender in. I like to use my body for a little push off, and shudder with my whole body to give him the impression I'm stopping.

honestly it depends on the size of the defender. bigger ones probably stop and start usually their acceleration is poor. i find the 360 turn is more to avoid a defender sprinting straight into me than a trick to get past. the stepovers are always a favorite in most cases however.

Obviously, if the defender is sprinting, and the ball is moving, you wanna put a move on, but sometimes, I think a 360 is too prone to error. Just a simple cut usually works for me. When the ball is moving at pace, and a defender is running at me, I raise my leg and stamp next to the ball, cutting it horizontally straight across me. It only moves a few centimeters, but that's enough to make the man miss, and keeps the ball close to my feet to do something else, like sprint on.

but you have 2 options pull back to shield if you miss time or keep going with it if it's dead on.

You mean a defender who's stepping forward, standing still or jockeying?

For stepping forward: 360

Standing still: put it past him and go

Jockeying: pull back wait for a committment or pass
